• I have read as many tutorials as I can handle, and I cant seem to find a step by step how-to on editing an existing WordPress site offline with Microsoft WebMatrix. I’m pretty new to both WordPress and WebMatrix. I tried one walk-though on this site and it installed WordPress like I was creating a new site. It didn’t have a spot to log-in or access an existing page, only create a new one. Then I tried adding a remote site and it says I have all kinds of connection errors. I know I’m doing something wrong, but I don’t know what. Can someone please explain the easiest way to do this?

  • You don’t need WebMatrix. WordPress is a site development tool. Use one or the other.

What do you mean by this:

editing an existing WordPress site offline

Do you mean writing posts and pages? Or changing the appearance. Both can be done offline, but you need a different set of tools.

I would like to overhaul the appearance of the site offline, test is on a local host to make sure everything is working correctly, and upload the “new” version all at once without disturbing the current working page.
