    6/7
I tried an edit on the current root htaccess file from the htaccess editor panel, I got a message that editing was disabled for the root, the wpadmin and the master htaccess files. I unlocked the root again and got it and the wp-admin htaccess were ok for editing, yet when I tried to edit the root htaccess file, I again got the disablled messages.

I updated the custom code, saved and went thru the activations and it did not cure this issue and the root htaccess file was not changed per the custom code.

This is a first for me to have this error set.

Finally did the editing via ftp.

Is The RBM Status on the BPS Security Modes page showing “Disabled”?
    RBM Status: Disabled

Are you seeing this message? “htaccess Files Disabled: Root htaccess file writing is disabled.”

If you are seeing both of these things above then you have disabled htaccess files on the BPS Setup Wizard Options page > Enable|Disable htaccess Files option setting is > htaccess Files Disabled. To enable htaccess files > change the Enable|Disable htaccess Files option setting to > htaccess Files Enabled.
