When I go into the Customizer, then go to edit content of anything- a widget, a static slider, etc. by clicking the “edit content” button, the editor appears and I can enter content but “save and close” button doesn’t appear to do anything. The content isn’t added or updated, and the text editor doesn’t close.

I’m using a free version of Optimizer.

    ** I Resolved This Problem Myself **

    Here’s how:

I had the visual editor turned off from like 3 years ago when WP had a problem with loosing HTML tags when you switched back and forth between visual and code editor. I suspected that might be causing a problem.

In my WordPress dashboard, I went to Users > Your Profile and unchecked the box at the top of the page that says “Disable the visual editor when writing”.

That seems to have fixed the problem. I can update, add, and save content in widgets and the sliders now.

(Sorry if it’s bad to post a support request for a problem I solved myself – I didn’t want to be “that guy” who had a problem and just left with a “never mind I figured it out” in case someone else was having the same problem.)
