Edit Comment Form Breaks Links

I posted a comment then wrote a more complete post on the topic. When I returned to the comment to insert a link to the full post, I found I could not do so with the edit comment form in the Admin > Manage > Comments area.

Instead of a clean url, the HTML editor inserted gibberish. Several urls thrown together with some garbage for added effect. This happened in both IE and Firefox.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a known fix?
