edit colour of file icons

    hi,

    i tried to edit an svg-File which is stored into \plugins\better-file-download\colour-sv-file-types. For example i edit the file pdf.svg with the freeware “inkscape”. For test I only change the colour of the three letters “P D F”.
    But unfortunately the change has no effect.

    Is it even possible to change the file icons?

    Hi Toah,
    Of course it’s possible as long as you have some software that is capable of changing one part of an Svg. I used sketch app to make the files so if you’re on Mac that might be the way to go.

    thank you for your very fast answer.
    i tried it with the windows freeware “inkscape”.

    in the preview of the modified svg file (for example, if I open it in a browser), the change is also displayed.

    However, if I copy the modified svg file back into the plugin directory (and overwrite the existing one), this will unfortunately not be displayed when I open the WordPress page.

    Do I have to pay attention to anything else?

    Your going to need to pull the svg apart and rebuild it. I don’t know Inkscape but if you can convert the svg into a png, edit the png and then convert it back to an svg you might have some joy with that.
    As far as I know, Adobe indesign or photoshop are really gonna be your best options for Windows graphics editing, I’m a Mac monkey so windows really isn’t my fortè.

    Are you sure that the browser isn’t caching the old version? Maybe try hard refreshing the browser, just to be sure. ??

    i changed the browser and now it works.
    maybe the page was still in the cache.
