• Hi,

So when i click into any page on the edit view, when i click on the ‘edit’ button next to the permalink, nothing happens. I use this on a regular basis before now and never had an issue (usually use it to clone pages that need almost identical content then just update the slight varied content and change the permalink).

Anyone know how to either a) fix the issue or b) another way to change the permalink of an individual page?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Update: My media gallery isnt showing anything and my visual composer isn’t working either. Could this be an issue with wordpress 4.5?

Do you mean WP 5.5 that was just released?
If so, please read the Master List topic and pay attention to the last part about the jquery-migrate plugin. It sounds like what you need.

    Having the exact same problem.

Tried the Jquery-Migrate plugin. Still having the same problems. Edit button for the permalinks does not work NOR can I update or add tags. I’m using WordPress 5.5.1 and Weaver Xtreme theme. Any help would be appreciated!!! All plugins are updated and current.

New user here. Same problem. I have read multiple help threads that state when one edits a page or post, a section with title, permalink and edit button appear at the top of the editable page, but I don’t see that. Perhaps that functionality was present in an earlier WP version? I just see the editable text of the post or page itself. I can select “Quick Edit” via “Pages – All Pages” and change the slug, but this seems to have no effect on the permalink of the page or post. I have a new site (0islessthan1.com) and am just learning. I don’t need to worry about prior traffic (I have virtually none).

It seems there is a bug or an inner structural problem of how WP functions: never edit a cloned page; if a cloned page was edited it will become, it will substitute itself in the database as the main page with that title but also keep its title with the ‘cloned’ mention in it which afterwards cannot be changed anymore. I tried all the candid recommendation with changing the slug and it does not work: when I edit it apparently it changes but it does never updates (after clicking Update it turns for ages and it does not updates); when you open again the editing page you see that the slug is the same as before. I wasted many hours for this and the conclusion is to make the page again.
