• Resolved Barn2 Plugins

    Hi

I use this plugin to show EDD purchase info in Helpscout and it saves our support team a HUGE amount of time – thank you very much!

We have been looking into some resource issues with our website and discovered that the EDD Helpscout plugin is making a ridiculous number of requests – far more than anything else on our website, including WordPress and EDD. You can see a screenshot from Kinsta at: https://imgur.com/xCJaGtk

Is there a reason why it is doing this, and can we do anything to reduce the number of requests?

    Thank you very much

    Katie

  • This could be a coincidence, but over the past couple of weeks I’ve been seeing “Connection timed out after 10000 milliseconds” message in the EDD box in HelpScout. This was intermittent (refreshing the page usually brought it back) but now it’s constant. I was just doing some deeper digging and thought I’d check these forums to see if anyone else was having the same issue.

It doesn’t sound like it’s exactly the same issue, but it seems to have come up at a similar time – I wonder if it’s somehow connected? I think in my case the issue is that the request isn’t getting as far as my server, it’s being blocked for some reason, maybe due to the frequency of the requests. I’ve contacted my host and will let you know if they reply with anything of any note.

    Hi Katie,

    thanks for reporting this.

The add-on should load automatically each time you open a thread in Help Scout. Depending on your support volume, this could be a lot. It also needs to load at least part of WordPress which then could definitely add more queries.

I am using the plugin myself and have not yet seen something that might indicate an unexpected issue with the queries.

Could you tell me what “Top requests by views” means?

I would like to learn if they can say how many individual hits to the EDD Helpscout endpoint are and how many queries each hit is causing.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

@megamenu I am curious to learn about your case as well. Please open a new thread here in the forum when you got your hoster’s reply since it might still be different.

Thanks for your reply. It turn out that the problem was caused by some custom API work we had done which uses the same endpoint. Sorry for bothering you.

Thanks, Katie. I am happy to read that you found the cause and solution.
