Ecommerce for Service Provider (like Photography business)

    Wondering if anyone can recommend a plug-in or combination thereof that would allow online ordering of services, such as digital photography (Wedding, Real Estate) where they aren’t buying a product you ship but photo image files you send them and you don’t actually charge them until the files are delivered. Ideally they choose a ‘package’ and ‘checkout’ with it and then get notified when their files are ready, they approve the files, and then their credit card is charged. They can login and see the status of their orders and re-download files from previous orders.

    Can WooCommerce do this?

  • Yes, I believe WooCommerce can do this. For example, the authorize.net plugin for credit cards has a setting for authorize only instead of authorize and capture. Once you authorize the payment, you can go into WooCommerce at any time and capture the funds; eg, when you have the product ready to ship.

    I think most payment gateways have the option to authorize only, but you would need to check before deciding on the payment gateway you use.
