Hide square brackets

Good day,

I use TOC+ and above articles it says e.g.

[Show] table of contents
or
{Hide] table of contents

The words “show” and “hide” are visible as links, the rest of the text as normal text. Those square brackets bother me a lot. There should be only “Show table of contents” where “show” is clickable.

Is there any way to set these square brackets to disappear? They should not be displayed, they are pointless in my opinion. If you want, you can type them manually in your own text. But as default they should rather not be visible OR deactivatable.
