• Hi,

I am using Ecampaign to set up a petition on my clients site. It work well wanting a confirmation email.

The default is to email back the details submitted of the person who fills in the petitions without any other information.

We would like to add a thank you message and additional information. Is this possible?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Actually that’s something I hadn’t thought much about. I have only used the email action functionality in real campaigns.

If you are using the petition mode (e.g. [ecampaign class=’EcampaignPetition’]
then the person signing the petition shouldn’t get any confirmation email; you can customise the message on the screen though by changing the {success } field.

But it is possible you are using the default (email action) mode, in which case, the site visitor would get a copy of the theoretical email sent to the target which perhaps doesn’t exist. Does the email you are talking just have text in it or are there details of the site visitor, like their browser type, or referrer shown as well, normally sent to the campaign address.

In any event, there probably needs to be a customisable email, as you suggest above. Do you need to be able to just edit the text, would it be the same text for different petitions? Would it be sufficient to put an editable email template on the ecampaign settings page, which would be used for all petition confirmations?

There are editable email templates for the ’email address verification’ and the new ‘petition signed confirmation’ emails in the svn/trunk version of ecampaign. You can include any of the captured fields and others like the permalink for the post in the email. It will be in the release version in the next few days.

However, you will need to use this shortcode to get correct functionality. [ecampaign class=’EcampaignPetition’].

    John
