• We hit what seems like a bug. The following complete post does not render correctly on our WordPress 4.9.4 site with footnotes 1.6.5:

    <ul>
    <li>[Text 1] ((note text 1A 
    
    note text 1B)) [Text 2].(([note 2])) </li>
    </ul>

    “[Text 2]” never gets displayed and “(([note 2]))” gets turned into a note on note 1. Eliminating the line break in the middle of the first footnote makes the problem go away.

    Also, this fails in the same way:
