Hi, first attempt at installing a blog to my website.

Using ftp (Dreamweaver). Have uploaded ‘blog’ folder with WP files to server successfully. Followed Easyspace’s instructions so far and failed already at this stage:

Was expecting to see ‘create a configuaration file’ page, but this happened instead. Still waiting for an easyspace tech to respond with further help.

    https://www.vespa.org.uk/blog/wp-admin/install.php

    Message displays this:

Your server is running PHP version 4.4.4 but WordPress 3.3.2 requires at least 5.2.4.

    That message says it all…

Does that mean Easyspace should help me out and upgrade me to 5.2.4 (I’m a newbie remember!)

Oh – yes! This is part of the reason you’re paying them. Try contacting them about it. And while you’re talking to them, check that you have hosting on a Linux server – not a Windows one. It will make your life a lot easier later on/

OK – thanks. I’m still waiting for a reply from them. I’m definitely on a linux server which is a good start. Love WordPress sites – just wish Easyspace would too. Anyone recommend a WordPress-loving host that I should consider moving across to?

Although we cannot endorse them, there are some hosts listed here. Also searching the forums using the keywords “host” or “hosting” may provide you with some suggestions.

Now, unfortunately, due to the amount of spam that these hosting questions attract, I’m afraid I will have to close this one. If you have any further problems, just post a new topic.
