Easy Way to Manage Monthly Newsletters-NOT A LIST OR SUBSCRIPTION
-
I have a site that is for a non-profit organization. The organization publishes a newsletter monthly, and it is then posted in PDF format on the wordpress site. This newsletter is NOT emailed to a list within wordpress – we use MailChimp for that.
Currently, I manually upload the PDF via FTP, then edit two different pages where the newsletter is available. The first page is one that simply displays the current newsletter.
The second page is a little more involved. I’ve created one page for each year dating back several years, and these “year” pages have links to the monthly newsletter for each month in that year. At the beginning of each year, I create a new blank page and add the monthly newsletters as they are published – effectively creating an archive.
This all works well, but is somewhat labor intensive. The time has come for me to pass this task to someone else who is less savvy than I, so I am looking for a better way to manage these monthly newsletters as well as the archive. We currently go back about 4 years online so if I have to re-do the archive in its entirety, it won’t be all that nasty. The more important thing is to make this super easy going forward.
So, the requirements are that the current newsletter be available on a “Current Newsletter” page, and that all prior newsletters are made available easily – even searchable if possible.
To reiterate, these newsletters are created completely outside of wordpress, and consist of content NOT located on the website. They’re simply supplied to me as a PDF file each month to be posted on the site, and are not emailed via wordpress.
