My website was working fine with the Easy T of Contents, version 2.0.1 up until yesterday. I am running PHP version 7.3 and WP 5.2. Today, I noticed, none of my working Table of Contents in any section were working. I also noticed there was an update available to T of C version 2.0.4. Since my site met the criteria mentioned in the details about your plug in, I upgraded it, hoping that would correct the problem but it didn’t. I’ve seen no one else noticing anything yet. Do you know of any reason the Table of Contents are not currently working.

I’m new to posting a question and hope I have done it correctly.

RE: I can see at the end of my post where I work on it in WordPress, the Insert Table of Contents box is checked and the h2 Headings box is also checked.

That sounds right, could you also show a screenshot of those settings for that page?

RE: When a web developer worked on my site to replace the other outdated TOC plugin, he was the one who enabled or disabled the boxes. After he was finished telling me that your Simple TOC was installed, I totally checked my site and all the TOCs that were showing through Bainternet, were still showing in Simple TOC.

Is it possible the dev did something “custom” to make ezTOC work so it would work like Bainternet?

Here are the screenshots. I misspoke in a prior message where I said all of the TOC were done the same. In reviewing them again, trip 2020 and 2017 had both the Insert TOC and h2 boxes CHECKED. All other trips (2018, 2015-2009) the boxes were UNCHECKED. Ultimately by appearance, none of them show a TOC as of 3/17/2020.

As to your second question, I don’t know. He did the conversion in September 2019. I do know, prior to his change, when I would create a new post, I was told I had to add a shortcode [—ATOC—] and next line add [—TAG:h2—]. I never questioned it because I really don’t know coding. I do know after the change to Easy TOC, and when everything was working, a couple of newer versions of WP came down which were automatically installed on my website. I would get an email when it was done and I think it was the hosting company that pushed it down but I’m not 100% sure on this.

Sorry for the long explanation, but since I basically have only added info to my website via somewhat cookbook instructions, and don’t understand the lingo well, I try to be as clear as possible. Laurena

RE: I was told I had to add a shortcode [—ATOC—] and next line add [—TAG:h2—].

Will that may hint at the issue … sounds like you are going to have to contact the dev because I can not even begin to guess what is going on that would require that and how that may or may not be interacting with ezTOC. With the settings you shared in the screenshots, none of that should be needed at all.

Sorry, no, that is the coding that I used to have to add when the Bainternet was still active, which is no longer and was replaced by ezTOC.

Oh, ok, I see. Well then that is curious. Is there a way to contact you directly?

Yes, at the bottom of my website, there is a white envelope which connects you to my email. If you’d rather by phone, you can send the email and then I’ll give you the phone. Hate to just put it on the post. Thanks.
