My website was working fine with the Easy T of Contents, version 2.0.1 up until yesterday. I am running PHP version 7.3 and WP 5.2. Today, I noticed, none of my working Table of Contents in any section were working. I also noticed there was an update available to T of C version 2.0.4. Since my site met the criteria mentioned in the details about your plug in, I upgraded it, hoping that would correct the problem but it didn’t. I’ve seen no one else noticing anything yet. Do you know of any reason the Table of Contents are not currently working.

I’m new to posting a question and hope I have done it correctly.

Can you please additional details on “not working” and share links to affected pages? Thanks!

    Here is a for instance:

    https://laurenajenkinshoffmeyer.com/laurena/africa-2020-itinerary-and-favorite-photos/

This a link to a page on my website (there are several trips just like this). As of Sunday 3/15/20, there was a T of C right after the 2nd paragraph (which ends in “my next adventure”. Every topic (Top Photo Picks, Roho, my newest elephant chubbie, etc.) were all showing up in the T of C (where there were dots which would link to that section) because I told it to pick up the h2. This was consistent across all these trips, as well as some portions of my Everett section:

    https://laurenajenkinshoffmeyer.com/laurena/girls-luncheon-september-2014/

where on this page, all the months were in a T of C, each month chosen as h2.

In all cases, every webpage where I had this done, the T of C dots were showing at the top and linking to the specific section. They were there Sunday. When I went to look at one of the pages yesterday, those T of C were no longer there. I checked all parts of the website to verify and none of them were there.

I did see that there was an updated version of 2.0.4 done on 3/16/2020. I backed up my site, saw that this newer version worked with my PHP version and WP version, so I updated the plug in hoping that might correct it but it didn’t.

    Does this information help you?

It’s not working for me either. I just installed and activated the plugin. I selected Auto Insert for Pages. My Home page, https://altoplace.com/, has 6 H2 headings, and there is no TOC.

I am using WP Rocket and my host provides a Varnish cache. I made sure that I cleared both caches. Still no TOC.

Please open open you own support tickets/posts. This aids in providing the best support for everyone. Especially when issues are unrelated.

Your experience so far is by design. You should not see a TOC on the homepage. To enable support for the homepage navigate to the Table of Contents settings admin page and scroll to the Advanced section and enable the Homepage option. Hope this help and Thanks!

    Hi Steven,

Thank you for the feedback. I missed that “Homepage option” in the Advance settings. The TOC is working now. Thanks, again.

    Hello Steven,

I noticed your recent version of TOC so installed it hoping that TOC would appear after the problems I had mentioned in my initial post. Nothing has changed. I’m at a loss as to how to get all my TOCs back.

Can you please share screenshot of the Table of Contents settings admin page?

From wp.com support site, here are a few ways you can share that screenshot with me:

    • Upload the screen shot to a third party service like Snag.gy, Droplr or CloudApp or LightShot and then share the image link from that service with support

    Hello Steven

I have made screen captures of the entire sections of Table of Contents settings. There are 5 in total, but 2 are from the Advanced section which I think is what you are looking for. I’m very new at this and when Bainternet Simple TOC was installed and became outdated, it was changed to Easy Table of Contents. He had me check everything and all has been good until my initial report to you.

I have the screen shots, but am not familiar with the services you mentioned. Other than just sharing images by email, the only other one I’ve used is Dropbox. Any ideas, like I mentioned, I’m not real familiar with this.

RE: I have the screen shots, but am not familiar with the services you mentioned.

Well, they are like most services … nothing fancy. Upload an image, get a share link. Snag.gy and LightShot don’t even require accounts.

I’ve given it a try. I hope this is what you are looking for. Laurena

OK that is the Advance settings. They look fine, what about the rest of the settings?

Steven, here are the first 3 screen shots I took. I hope between these and the other 2 you have what you are looking for. Thanks. Laurena

I see auto insert for Posts is disabled. Does that mean you are enabling insert of the TOC per post?

When a web developer worked on my site to replace the other outdated TOC plugin, he was the one who enabled or disabled the boxes. After he was finished telling me that your Simple TOC was installed, I totally checked my site and all the TOCs that were showing through Bainternet, were still showing in Simple TOC. And all the site pages that had TOC continued to show them through March 17th. When I went to look at one of the posts on March 19th, that is when the TOCs in every part of the site where they had been, were now not showing. But I hadn’t changed any settings.

In looking for instance at https://laurenajenkinshoffmeyer.com/laurena/africa-2020-itinerary-and-favorite-photos/

I can see at the end of my post where I work on it in WordPress, the Insert Table of Contents box is checked and the h2 Headings box is also checked. This is true for each of those travel reports.
