  • Othern than the ‘img alt’ attribute, those icons are not meant to have descriptions. They are meant to illustrate titles, nothing more. You are going to have to add/modify code yourself or ask a web developer to help you.

So, how come they have titles on the developer’s site?

I’ve been searching for hours a way to have a description next to the icons of Ultimate Member, like it appears on their site:

Please get clear with your terminology. A (tab) title is not a “description” which is what you originally asked.

Also, since you’re running a paid extension, you qualify for paid customer support:

I’m not running any paid extensions.
I was trying to be clear, that’s why I posted the two comparison screenshots.

I want the description text shown in the screenshot taken by the plugin’s authors (About, Activity, Posts, etc) to appear right next to the icon in my site too.
As you can see in the second screenshot, showing my site , only the icons are shown and not any text.

Ok but that’s not a “description”. You are missing tab names or titles. That view is only usual for mobile devices. Something is definitely wrong.

The only thing I can think of providing that you didn’t tamper with original UM files in the ultimate member plugin directory is to update the plugin.

I’m already running the latest version. What could be wrong? Is there an option for the tab names that I’m missing maybe?

Well. when did you notice this problem? Did you have the problem before you updated UM?

    Hi,

The icon descriptions appear automatically, but only when the profile form is displayed on a certain minimum width.

For example, if you have the profile form not the full width of the page the descriptions (probably) won’t display.

If you could attach a full screenshot of the whole page this might be helpful to work out where you’re going wrong.

    Thanks

@borisv I just started using it.

@playenjoycompetetennis Maybe that’s the case. I will test it out and see. Do you know if there are any options for this somewhere where I can edit the min/max width?

That’s why I said that that viewing is usual on mobile devices. Are you using a regular desktop computer or not??

Yes, I’m using my PC, 1920×1080 resolution, if that makes a difference.

Ok, it was the width. Thank you guys ??

I set the page to display as full width and the tab titles appeared.
However I do not wish to keep it full width because my sidebar is gone and I want it there.
Does Ultimate Member have an option to set the required width so I can test it out and find the right value, so it displays both my sidebar and the tab titles?

Yes. The width can be controlled too in the profile form.

Go to UM > Forms > Default Profile. click on edit. Go to “Customize This Form”. Use global settings? Select No.
You can the change the ‘Max. Width (px)’ and ‘Profile Area Max. Width (px)’ ato your liking.

I tried various numbers but nothing seems to be working.
I will leave it to full width as a final solution :/
