Easy Captcha breaks add user and login at multisite level
-
I installed Easy Captcha on two separate multisite installations. I like the plugin a lot, but after doing that, I lost the ability to add new users at the multisite level. I also had trouble logging in at the multisite level.
There are more details below. I was going to post this in another forum when I realized that Easy Captcha seemed to be the culprit. After uninstalling, the logins and user adds work fine on both sites. On the simpler (completely internal) multisite installation, I deleted all plugins except Easy Captcha. It definitely breaks user addition and login as described below. If I delete it, they work again.
Behavior when installed:
Most times, when I try to log in to the parent site (as a Super Admin), I get a pink box that says “Please try to fill in and submit the form again”. If I then refresh the page, however, I find that I am actually logged in. If I try to log in to a sub-site (as an appropriate user), it works fine the first time. I only tried this in Firefox and Chrome in Ubuntu and Firefox in Windows. I think it will sometimes just log me in as usual, but I can’t be sure I didn’t do something different those times.
Every time, when I try to add a new user at the multisite level (e.g., not to an individual blog), even with different user inputs, I get a little pink box that says “Please try to submit the form again”. The user is never added. This happens in Firefox and Chrome in Ubuntu and Windows.
Both multisite installs where I observed this behavior are sub-directory installs. One has only Twenty-twelve installed plus two home-made child themes. The other site is described below. Since Easy Captcha breaks both sites, the child-themes are unlikely to be the issue. The simple site is running on RHEL 6.
The not-so-simple site looks like:
A sub-directory installation with 22 users and 23 sites. There are 16 plugins and 9 themes. It is hosted on Ubuntu 12.04. I prefer not to post the link to the site in a public forum, but will share it with individuals if requested.
These plugins are network-activated:
Easy Captcha, Kcite, labTools, More Privacy Options, Multisite Global Search, Multisite User Management, PMID Citation Plus, SyntaxHighlighter Evolved, TablePress, User Role Editor, WP User Avatar. These plugins are not network-activated:
LaTeX for WordPress, Luna, Mathjax Latex, My Calendar, WP LaTeXThe main site uses Twenty Twelve. These themes are also installed:
activetab, Annotum Base, Boozurk, Customizr, Mog, Responsive, Spun, Twenty Eleven, Twenty Twelve.
