• I built a WP site for a lady named Barb Carlson who runs a ferret shelter out of her home. So far she’s pretty happy with the site, but there’s one thing she would like to change. On this page here I have listed some of the ferrets she has at her shelter using divs for each section, but it can be unwieldy trying to fill in all of the info by herself.

I’m wondering if there isn’t an easier way to do this? I’ve searched around, but I’m not even sure what to search for. On her old site this was implemented with simple HTML by her old webmaster. I’m not sure how to do such a thing on a WP site. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions we’d be glad to hear them.

    Thanks.

By the way, I have no thumb nail settings in the theme’s function.php file. The only mention of thumb nails is in the 2010functions.php file, but I see no where to add sizes.

I still have the ferret code running in my test environment and thumbnails seem to act correctly for me even with larger images..

Notice how the original image(right click -> view image) is a larger image, but the thumbnail has scaled down to adhere to thumbnail sizing..

I’m not doing anything special, no additional code, i’m simply setting a featured image and letting WordPress do the rest.

Would you like me to test the code inside the weaver theme? I have it uploaded already, so shouldn’t take too long to test…

No, that’s OK. I’m sure it’s probably this theme. What I would like to know is if you could recommend a better theme for my client? You’ve got some idea now what this 2010 Weaver theme is like so I’m wondering if you could suggest a better theme.

Something that is easy to tweak, easy to update, and which works well with the Ferret system you’ve developed.

    Sorry, double post.

I can’t say i’ve used a great deal of themes myself, or at least not enough so to say that i could make a well informed opinion, i’m more a code writer, then a user of the system (i learn by playing with code). I personally very much like the TwentyTen theme (but then i don’t personally need options and inputs for adding customization, so my needs are very different to those of your client).

What i’d suggest, is creating a fresh topic and inviting general advice/tips/suggestions on themes (or free themes specifically), to see what the community at large has to say….

There are lots of people out there who deal with recommending theme’s to clients on a regular basis, so i’m sure at least a handful of users will have some handy advice to share..

I’m still here if you need an extra head for brainstorming though… ??

I’ve already tried asking around about WP themes, but it never produced anything I could use. Most people just link you to stuff you can already find yourself on Google, and the majority of that stuff is as bad as the Weaver theme.

The Twenty-Ten theme doesn’t have very many options and it’s a pain to try to tweak, so that’s why I went with the 2010 Weaver theme. That’s the only bad thing about WP – if you don’t know code then you’re basically stuck with whatever theme you can manage with.

Mark, I have a situation here where I may be losing my home and I won’t be able to help my ferret client anymore. She is wondering if she may contact you in case she has any questions (concerning the ferret stuff you made for her).

If you don’t mind let me know what your contact info is so I can give it to her. Thank you.
