Hello All, I am new to WP and already see the ease of use. I am making use of Elementor and Astra theme. My wife is multi-lingo so it has always been a challenge making websites for her. Polylang plugin is a welcomed tool in improving that experience.

Normally in the past I simply copy all of the pages I wanted to translate. Renamed them and had her give me the content. Pointed to them with different menu options and all was well.

Kind of looking for a similar interaction, but the default with Polylang seems to ask you to create a whole new page. I want to use a copy of my homepage for example as the starting point for the second language’s homepage. Not create a page from scratch. Especially as I am new to WP and my use of a Astra theme.

So, how can I point to a second language’s page to one that that I have cloned. Can I do this using the + page feature from Polylang? For the pages that I have added using +, how do I point them to a new cloned second language page not the test dummy page I created using the polylang + feature?

Hope some of that makes sense. Thanks

  • Polylang Pro has a nice feature to clone the content of a page/post when you create another language (one of the awesome features you get with the Pro version).
If you don’t want to buy the Pro version you have to copy the content manually. Switch to code editor, copy the content to clipboard, switch to the new page/post and copy the content in the code editor. Switch back to visual editor and you have the same content.

I see what you are saying. Manually copy the html code for the page you wish to copy and paste it in the code area for the new page. Tried to use the code editor, but Elementor seems to block it. Deactivated it temporarily and it worked. All is well, thanks. For others searching for this post, you the three dots in the top right corner of your dashboard to switch to the code editor.

Also, tried a plugin called Duplicate Post to clone pages. Afterwards, I wanted to redirect to this newly cloned page. Just cannot seem to figure it out.

I will look into purchasing the pro version in the future of this and other plugins, money is just tight at the moment. Is there anywhere I can find snapshots of the duplicate pages across languages feature in action?

    Thanks for your help

I take it back. I do not get it. I think there are things about the theme framework that I do not understand. Copying the html and making a new page with it leaves a not to be desired. Missing menus, large image, formatting or CSS for the new page is just not there. Even using that duplicate post plugin give the same result.

Super lost, ready to give up on the Polylang plugin, but even so I have no way to create a page using the bits and pieces from the original theme. Wish to fall back on the old school coding to make the pages. Then do the easy editing with dashboard and Elementor.

    Please help!
