On a multi-language site with the latest WPML plugin the Email Address Encoder plugin works in the standard language, but not for translated pages containing email addresses.

Those pages are loading partially only and it stops with this error:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /(…path…)/wp-content/plugins/email-address-encoder/email-address-encoder.php on line 93

After deactivating EAE the pages load normally.

    Can you help?

Hi! I’m afraid I can’t help you with your issue with this plugin in combination with the WPML plugin, since WPML is a premium plugin and I can’t test it.

    Dear Till,

Thank you very much for your quick response!

I don’t know if this is a general compatibility issue of if it is just site-specific. Either way, WPML offers a certification program for plugins where you can get a free copy of WPML, see https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/.

For the time being, I have deactived the EAE plugin on our site. I wonder if you can reproduce the issue.

    Hello Till,

I’m also having trouble with WPML. I contacted them, and they suggested me to contact you and direct you to the same page sankari has listed above. In my case, emails are not getting obfuscated in any of the languages, including the default one (English). I don’t get execution time errors though. Just that the mailto links are not being encoded.

Will you be able to make this fix?

    Thank you.

    Hi Andrés!

I just tested plugin version 1.0.4 with WPML 3.1.5 and on both pages (the original and the translated page) all email addresses and mailto-links get encoded correctly.

Maybe you’re not looking at the plain source code?

    Sankari,

I just tested the plugin with WPML 3.1.5 it works flawless for me. How code savvy are you?

    Till,
Thank you for testing. Well, I am a little code savvy. How can I help you?

    Hi Till,

yes, I actually have checked the source code, for both languages. What could be happening? Maybe some kind of issue with the filter priorities when having WPML installed?

    Thanks.

    Hey Andrés!

Could you send me (or post) a link to a page where emails don’t get obfuscated?

    Cheers,
    Till

    Sankari,

from that error message you posted, it looks like your site is running into an endless-loop. Since it’s not happing on a new install I assume it’s caused by another plugin or custom code of your installation. I’m afraid I can’t help without direct access to your code.

    Till,
I rechecked and it goes without any errors now. It’s unclear for me what changed in the meantime. Anyway, thanks for your help!

    Hello Till,

I’ve made another test with the plugin, in a different WordPress installation, and the plugin works correctly there (with WPML as well). So I guess there must be some kind of conflict with one of the plugins we have in place in the installation we’ve been testing with. So far, both installations are local (XAMPP), so I cannot give you access.

We plan to use your plugin for this, so when we transfer the site to a protected testing environment, if we still have trouble, I will give you a URL to check.

Thank you very much for your help!
    Andrés
