    Hey Guys!

Do you really need to use e-mail spamming to promote your plugin? If your plugin is great, I think you do not need to use spam and people will find it without spamming.

Just got several spam from you for different domain’s [email protected]

I’ve removed the modlook tag. Can you please send the email and details to the plugins team via [email protected] and they’ll look at the email you’ve received.

Please be aware that they receive a lot of email and you may not get a quick reply.

I’m also getting the unsolicited spam emails to multiple addresses. The addresses don’t exist and they’re going into the catchall.

Has anyone taken a good look at the plugin’s code?

I’ve got the same email. Super annoying.

Same, it’s weird i don’t remember subscribing. Maybe i bought something that sold my data…or you harvest random email address from the web?

Update: The plugins team has reached out to the author. I’m pointing that out in case anyone thinks that team needs more email. They don’t. ??

We don’t like spam anymore than you do. Can you post the original email to [email protected]. At a first glance this email seems like a spoof. Our mailings always contain a unsubscribe link. Only opted in addresses are used, that choice is made upon activating the API key or the plugin.

Here you can view the source of the email: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14567896/text.txt

I have removed my info from the source, but that does not matter. Also the email seems valid and I’m not sure why would someone send out emails in your name…

The email I got has an unsubscribe link, but I definitely didn’t opt in. It was sent to an email address that doesn’t actually exist and went to the catchall inbox.
I can’t imagine that someone is paying for a MailGet account just to send emails in your name.

Nevermind, looks like Otto & Co have removed the offending plugin. Well done all.

The plugins team is handling this from here on. We are aware of several issues and are working them out with the authors.

Just FYI, when you send us emails about this, can you please include context. It’s important for us to know things like if you had the plugin installed or not (helps us to dig into if they’re farming email or just spam blasting), and links back to these threads are great.

A couple people emailed with the comment ‘Spamming!’ which is not very helpful ?? Contrary to popular belief, we’re not actually psychic.

We can confirm now misuse of our referral program has been the cause for these email messages. We have discontinued our referral program.
