• Whenever someone registers, they do not receive the password in their mail. When I set up a dummy and tried for a password reset I got this message:

The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…

How do I enable the E-mail function? I do have the latest version of WP.

  • You don’t.
Your host does. Or can ??

Did your host disable the mail() function? You’d want to ask them that. ??

If they have indeed done so, you’ll want to use one of the many plugins that’ll help work around that.

That’s why HS has a + sign next to his name: he can put in nice sentences my “laconic” replies ??

… rofl! For the record, my post was exactly 9 seconds behind moshu’s…

I have looked at the plugins. Would you point me in the right direction? I am new to all this and have been to the help docs, around the forums and have looked at code after code until my head swims.

I need help with this issue. We’re running our own server, but I don’t have a clue about configuring SMTP on it.
