• I have been asked by a customer to set up an ecommerce facility on his website which is run by WordPress 2.9.2.

I would like to use the WP e-commerce plug-in which seems to be fairly straightforward. He wishes to cater for two types of customer – wholesale business and retail business. The wholesale customers would have to log-in and would have a different price structure to the retail customers.

My question is – can this be easily managed using this plug-in or should I be looking at something else? Any links to documentation, how-tos, etc welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

  • There’s not much out there when it comes to e-commerce and WP. People swear by this or that, but do your research. Honestly. I’ve looked at them all and there’s some glitzy stuff – but do your research.

Professional e-commerce companies work non-stop at their products. And they charge for them. And usually they’re very focussed. And you can expect them to be around (hopefully) for years.

The last thing anyone needs is to be tied to a cart that’s not updated when WP is updated, that’s limited – well, whatever.

So go to different cart forums. Read the bad stuff as well as the good stuff. Search Google for ‘—- review’

    etc.

I haven’t found a WP plugin that’s at professional level yet (and by that I mean support, fast updates, flexibility, the ability to customise so it doesn’t look like every other generic cart etc.)
