Dynamic sidebar (show/hide)

  • Hi I would like to know if its possible to have a function which lets you show/hide a side bar?

    By default when someone lands on my homepage I want the side by to show, but I want to give them the option to hide it. Is this possible?

  • You need to find and install a specific template which have this feature. Because it’s not easy to do to with any template.

    That sounds like a great idea. This would be totally dependant on the theme you’re using, and doesn’t really have anything to do with any specific WordPress features. So if you can find a theme that implements this idea – fantastic!

    If not, you would have to look at coding it yourself (or hiring someone to do it for you). But hey, anything can be done with the right code, right?

    Thanks guys, currently im using the xtheme which is lets you do a lot of customization but i cant seem to find that side bar function though. hmm
    I wish there was such a theme!

    I’m not much of a coder with php Luke otherwise I would be straight on it. But hopefully it something like becomes available with my theme soon.

    You can create your own template with a sidebar and have it done with css, js and php. Or you can install a free theme with a built-in sidebar and code from there.
