Dynamic Remarketing for Product Variation- Woocommerce

  • Great plugin. I love it.
    I have a question, though; in my products feed, I link to product variation by using the url that appends attributes value. When a visitor clicks on that url, Product ID will be the group product id instead of the variation product id. Even tag assistant do not read the specific product id for the variation and hence turns red.
    Adwords keep flagging my dynamic remarketing tag and pointing that I am having problems with product id for some of my pages.
    I am not sure how to go about fixing this issue. Is there a work around?

    Hi TIA,

    First of all: you are using v1.8 on your site, there is a bugfix version (v1.8.1) that should be installed in order to solve some issues I can see on your product page.

    After the update, you will see a gtm4wp.changeDetailViewEEC event which will include the proper variation ID. You should prevent your AW remarketing tag to fire on product detail pages (where event is Page View or DOM and ecomm_pagetype=product) and fire your AW remarketing tag on the GTM event above.

    Thanks for the response! I do have the latest version 1.8.1
    Do you mean I should fire the dynamic remarketing page only on products page where the event occurs? How about product pages where there are no variations?

    You are right, on simple product pages this will not work.
    I have added a new data layer variable on product detail pages: productIsVariable

    This will be set to 1 on variable product pages so that you can fire your AW remarketing tag according to the product type.

    The new data layer item will be available in the next plugin version (v1.9)
