Dynamic post title & image within 3 divs on my homepage

  • Hi there,
    I am currently writing my first WordPress theme & have created a home-page.php within my localhost wordress site.

    On my homepage i have 3 divs side my side spanning across the width of the page. In each div I want to take the title of the latest wordpress post from a particular category and display it within the div, along with the featured image and the actual post content with 50 character limit.

    Post title, post content, and its featured image.

    How would i go about doing this? I am new to any dev stuff so any help would be really appreciated
