    Hi bdd,

Dynamic descriptors are only possible when WooCommerce is enabled. The donation functionality was never intended to be used as a substitute for an eCommerce solution and thus it is great for accepting donations but any use beyond that will certainly have limitations.

    Thanks,

Once you activate the plugin (you can test as much as you want using the sandbox mode) you will see that every configuration item has a description on what the purpose is. Try activating the plugin and you will find many questions are answered by reading the descriptions for the settings.

    Got it. Thanks. I understand.

If you’re using this donation functionality (without WooCommerce), what determines what shows up on the customer’s credit card statement? (Does it show your merchant ID as set in Braintree at least?)

Is there any reason why donation functionality couldn’t be used for one-time payments (like if a client is making a payment on an invoice)?

    Thanks.

    Hi bdd,

The name that you registered with Braintree will show up on the credit card statement for donations. For example, if your company is registered with Braintree as ACME Corp, that is what the donor will see on their credit card statement.

The donation functionality could be used for one time payments, but you must accept that you are using a donation feature for something is was not intended for. WooCommerce has one time payments, invoices, etc built in so we see no need to re-invent the wheel and offer the same with our plugin when WooCommerce already does that well.

Thanks again for the info. Makes sense. I was previously avoiding the WooCommerce implementation (my theme didn’t have the integration, and it didn’t seem like I really needed it at the moment), but I’ll explore it more now that I’ve integrated it with my theme.
