Duplicator Not Copying All Content

    I love this plug-in and I often use it when I want to build a WordPress site on a temporary URL and then move the site over to its actual URL once it has been fully built and tested.

    Recently I did this with a couple of sites and I found it did not duplicate everything. Some of the text was missing on some of the Pages I created as well as a few pictures were not copied over from the media library.

    This has happened to me with more than one WP site so when I use it now I am really careful to keep the beta site running on its test domain until I go through the new site that I created using duplicator and I make sure that all the content is fully there.

    Has anyone had this same problem as well?

  • Hey Jixxer,

    The best way to validate the data is to check the source. I would recommend opening the database.sql file inside the archive.zip and looking for the data that is missing. If the data is not in the SQL file, then let me know. If it is in the SQL file then there could be issues when migrating to the new DB with the table collations.

    This can happen if your MySQL version are too far apart or one version doesn’t support another. In these causes you will need to work with your host to try and get the MySQL database engine version numbers in sync or as close to each other as possible.

    Other issue that some users have ran into is that they don’t completely empty the destination directory so that only the installer and archive file are present.

    Thank you for responding. I owe you a bit apology. I was using another plugin, WP Clone by WP Academy, and I confused it with Duplicator. So my problems are with that plugin not yours. I am so sorry to have troubled you.
