I’m attempting to run the duplicator installer on this site: https://duplicatortest.kinsta.cloud/

But when I go to the installer it crashes. It goes to /dup-installer/main.installer.php but shows a blank page with the Duplicator header and version, but no fields are showing. The only error I am seeing in the log file is (I’ve hidden the IP)

    2022/08/11 21:47:24 [error] 4298#4298: *2 directory index of “/www/duplicatortest_652/public/” is forbidden, client: 6#.##.21#.67, server: duplicatortest.kinsta.cloud, request: “GET / HTTP/1.1”, host: “duplicatortest.kinsta.cloud:64465”

  • Hey @alexdx,

I would reach out to your hosting provider, it looks like they need to enable access for that particular path.

    Hope that helps~

Hi Cory, I checked with my hosting provider (Kinsta) and this error does not pertain to Duplicator so it has nothing to do with the installer failing. It seems the installer just does not work at all on Kinsta sites that are running PHP 8.0. Strange thing is, we are not seeing any errors in log files to point us in the right direction. We are running Duplicator version: 1.4.7.1. We just get a blank page with no errors, no fields showing, just the header, with the version number and the rest of the page is blank. Tried this on multiple sites with the same thing. If I revert back to PHP 7.4 the installer runs fine, but PHP 8.0 has the issue every time.

    Hey @alexdx

Thanks for the feedback! I’m not 100% sure what might be going on. I know that Kinsta is one of the very very few host hosts that bans all kinds of plugins. I think Duplicator might now be on that list. It’s possible they might be doing something behind the scenes with PHP 8. We run a full range of tests for PHP 8 and have not seen any issues on dozens of other major hosts.

If you would like to submit a support ticket for this issue we can have a closer look at your setup. Please provide a link to this forum thread when submitting the ticket.

    Hope this helps~
