I have searched but not found a good answer to this question. When using duplicator, how does it handle paid themes and plugins that are used on my site. I am using a paid theme and some paid plugins, and would like to clone my site and install it on another domain, then make changes to some settings to make it unique. I have no problem with paying for the plugins again, but will I be able to simply copy my site then activate the paid plugins after migration, or would I have to remove the paid plugins first for the purpose of cloning? Is there a way to maintain the settings of these plugins then make changes if needed?

Very good question that is relevant to me as well. Any clarity since asking this? It does not appear anyone answered…..

It would seem if you could use Duplicator to clone a site into a new domain name and database, the plugins would simply be installed and then reactivated or you would pay for more than one site use (such as Gravity Forms) but don’t know how this would work……Any answers plugin developers?

Thanks for your reply, hoping someone can answer this based on their experience. I realize each plugin developer may have their own policy, but I am looking for a general “this is how it worked for me” kind of thing. Thanks to all in advance.

Each plugin and theme is going to have its own license and terms. You will need to follow up with each one you purchase. As far as moving the content Duplicator doesn’t take into account if a plugin is paid or free. It simply moves what you ask.

If the plugin and theme devs do a good job of adhering to the WordPress coding standards then Duplicator in most cases will be able to migrate the data without issues but tracking the licenses and product validation is up to you.

    Hope this helps~
