Duplicating templates

After upgrading to BuddyPress 1.7 the theme compatibility system is inject duplicate templates on each page Any ideas what could be causing this? I’ve reinstalled the plugin and scoured the theme for anything that could be wrong. So far nothing works.
I tried posting on BuddyPress.org about the issue at least three times last night and couldn’t get it to accept my post.
