• Hello,

I would like to take an existing user blog in my freshly installed 3.0 multisite enabled blog and make an exact copy of it in that same installation. So take test1.mysample.com and create an exact copy at test2.mysample.com.

I want to do this so that I can assign a blog that is formatted exactly the same as another to a different user.. the same pages, posts, plugins, theme, settings, etc.

    Can this be done?

    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Export/import won’t do it, you’ll need to restore a backup of the first blog, with blog ID changed, or use a WordPress blog cloning tool.

Not sure if my question was understood… it cloning tool idea seems like it is to take an installation of WP and clon eit to a new server/database… I want to have it under the WP multisite installation…

How would one go about restoring a back-up with the blog ID changed?

There’s not a locked down method for that, yet, but a little bird mentioned a pay-for plugin will be able to do it soon.

That may be worth it for me… my plan is to offer WP powered sites to a specific group of people and have many templates and various levels of service… so when someone signs up and chooses the theme and services they want I want to be able to just clone teh existing sample of that site and set-them up.. will same A LOT of time and repitition if there is a way to do that as opposed to having to set each new site up myself.

    Thanks,
    Steve
