    Greetings everyone.

I started out working with one version of the Starter template on my website. I downloaded one of the e-commerce themes, imported the complete website, worked on my about page, and products page.

    So far so good.

I then proceeded to import JUST THE HOMEPAGE of another starter template I liked. Now I have dual sets of pages. I didn’t realize this until I had finished working on the home page. So i tried deleting the homepage i didn’t want but when I click “visit site”, or type out the url it defaults to a “blankish” home page. However whenever I add” /home” to the end of my url, (or i click “view homepage” from my “pages” section in the dashboard, it goes to the right page. (i.e., the one I want).

Will really appreciate some help on this as it has held me up for about a week now.

    Thanks!

    Hi @hrta,

I tried to replicate this by importing the Brandstore template then after the template successfully imported, I imported only the Home template of the Outdoor Adventure template. All worked perfectly as it should. The Home template of the Outdoor Adventure template is imported and saved as Draft. And I didn’t have any other pages imported, i.e. duplicated pages.

To remove the duplicated pages, you can just go to the Pages section and delete the unwanted pages manually.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

    Greetings @bsfherman

Many many thanks for your response!! Grateful indeed.

I had deleted the homepage I didn’t need, the problem was that the homepage I needed had the “/home” added to the end of the url and I didn’t know how to get this last string off.

I’m not sure how but I think I’ve solved the problem. I deleted the other pages like you suggested although my “All Products” page, “cart” page, and “Account” page, all have something like “/my-account-2/” or “/shop-2/” or “/cart-2/” (that is to say, there is a “2” added to the end of the url, and I think this is indicative that these are the “second” set of pages). I can’t think how to get the urls normal again (i.e., without the “2” but in any case it seems to be working ok now and perhaps its something I’ll have to live with if there’s no fix.

    Thanks a million times again!

    Hello @hrta

Glad to hear that the solution helped provided by Herman.

Regarding the /home slug to be removed from the URL. Do visit the Settings > Reading Menu on WordPress Dashboard as per the following screenshot on how to change the homepage.

    Hope that helps. ??

    Thank you @sumand123

I’ve done that and it works well for the homepage. Would you happen to know how to remove the “2” from the other pages? (That is to say, can I repeat this same process in the screenshot above to make the other page urls look normal lol).

Really grateful for all your helps so far!

    Hello @hrta

The URLs can be modified easily by using the Quick Edit field on the Main Posts/Pages on the WordPress backend.

After updating the Slugs do update the page links on the menu items so that they go to the correct URLs.

    Hope that helps. ??

OK! Many thanks @sumand123. (Although to be honest I’m a bit skeptical about tweaking something and chasing down another rabbit hole). I’ll see if I can use it as is; otherwise I’ll come back.

    Many thanks again…
