Duplicated GB buttons have the same class

    Hi Tom,

    Working on a new site today using GB 1.8.2 and the Blockscape theme on WP 6.3.

    Everything was working fine with GB as usual until I began duplicating GB buttons. Every time I duplicate a button, it carries over the unique class of the initial button.

    I could be mistaken, but in previous versions, I’m pretty sure a new unique class was generated each time a GB button was duplicated. That doesn’t seem to be happening with 1.8.2.

    In the editor, I can change the background colors OK (each individual button’s bg color remains as it should after saving and switching between buttons), but on the front end, all the buttons have the same bg color as the initial button — they don’t match the bg color that’s set in the editor.

    Because I’m using Vhosts to work on this site using the same domain as their live site, I can’t share the domain unless you want to modify your Vhosts file. So instead, I emailed you a Loom video to see the problem in action.

    I deactivated all other plugins and the problem persists.

    Any ideas?

    Hi @pracko,

    To clarify, are you duplicating or copying and pasting?

    Copying and pasting causes this issue by default.

    Duplicating should generate new IDs. I can confirm on my test site that it still does on WordPress 6.3 with no issues.

    Yes, I was duplicating, not copying.

    However, I neglected to mention that I was doing this inside the Footer template of the Front Page page template (using the new FSE site editor in WP 6.3).

    To overcome it, I created a Synced Pattern, and then added the pattern to the Footer.

    Now I can duplicate GB buttons and they each have a unique class so as to be styled independently.
