• I have been looking at teh plugins I have installed to see if I have inadvertently duplicated this fucntionality in more than one. Haven’t found it yet. Might there be another cause?

Right, have found it I think…?

I have plugins, WPForms and Sheild Security installed. Both have my google recaptcha key. Might this be the cause? If so, does it matter whcih is used?

    Hello,

Since you have found the problem, go ahead and just disable one of them. It doesn’t matter if both of them use the same API key.

Thank you, so they will presumably both work site wide.

Removing keys in both Shield and WP Forms has still left the ‘I’m Human’ checkbox on the login screen. Maybe this is a wordpress feature and not a google recaptcha?

Removing the keys from WP Forms did remove the google recaptcha from my contact form so that has to go back in.

But is there a setting somewhere in WordPress for the ‘I’m Human’ checkbox. I have looked but have not yet found it.
