• I am noticing a strange quirk…

If I enable “Prevent automatic user login after register”, the user receives three identical “Your account has been created” emails. The first is sent after they click the link in their verification email, and then 2 more are sent after they log in.

This behaviour happens whether or not the “Delay standard WooCommerce customer new account email” option is enabled.

Is there any way of fixing this? Thank you.

    Hi @jamesgasson,

Thanks for reporting. Could you please let me know if this only happens when you click the verification link from your gmail.com account? And if you copy/paste the verification link in your browser there are no duplicate emails then? If that’s the case – this is already fixed in our development version (we are planning to release it tomorrow).

I’ve just investigated… I’m not using Gmail to test – it’s a different email client. But even when I copy and paste the link into a browser I still get the duplicate emails, unfortunately.

    @jamesgasson,

Thanks for the reply. That’s not what I expected, however, I believe our tomorrow’s update should fix it for all cases of duplicate emails, so please wait till new version and let me know then if it’s fixed.

No problem. I’ll keep you updated…

Hey, you know, I think I’ve found some other weird problems here. Is it just me? Am I doing something wrong? This has been driving me crazy trying to figure it out…

    1. If I untick “Prevent automatic user login after register”, it solves the duplicate email problem but causes another: when a user signs up for an account the message “Your account has to be activated before you can log in” doesn’t appear. The user therefore has no indication that they need to check their inbox.

    2. If I tick “Prevent automatic user login after register”, the message “Success: Your account has been activated!” remains on the screen even after they have logged in. This causes confusion because I have amended that message to say “Success: Your account has been activated! Please log in to continue”.

Sorry to throw all this at you! Thanks for any help!

    Hi @jamesgasson,

Could you please update the plugin to the latest v1.8.0 (released just a couple of minutes ago), and let me know if any of the issues are still there.

Okay, so I’ve updated and the triplicate email thing is cured! That’s great, thanks so much.

The only thing that is still an issue, and I’ve tried this now on several systems with different browsers and always got the same result:

If “Prevent automatic user login after checkout” is ticked, then the message “Your account has to be activated before you can log in. Please check your email.doesn’t appear after a user has signed up. It seems that it redirects to https://www.website.com, rather than https://www.website.com/?alg_wc_ev_activate_account_message=46. This could cause user confusion.

This isn’t a problem for me, because I decided to leave that option ticked in the end, however this is perhaps something you might want to look at for a future update.

Other than that, I’m very pleased with how it is now working. Thank you!

Sorry, I meant to say that happens when the option is not ticked.

…hang on — this is getting confusing. Let me start again.

When “Prevent automatic user login after register” is ticked the “confirm email” message does appear. When it is unticked it doesn’t.

However in both cases, the user is logged in after clicking the verification link, so the option has no effect.

Sorry for the confusion. That’s definitely what’s happening.
