I always use a CSV file to upload our products (clothing) which all have multiple sizes and colors without any issues. For the past week, every time I upload there are duplicate items created.

For example, if I upload a t-shirt style in 4 colors and 5 sizes, I end up with 40 items — 20 with the correct attributes (size/color) and 20 without any attributes (no size or color). The only way to fix this is to manually delete the duplicate items created one by one.

I have tried uploading with a fresh CSV files, changing the SKUs and deleting orphan variables (there were none) and nothing has solved the issue.

Nothing has changed on the CSV file I am using and I have not added any new plugins. I’m using WC 8.2.2 and have had our site up for a few years without this issue.

Hi @hankplayer! Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that you are having issues when importing products from a CSV file.
To be able to help you, it would be very useful if you could provide us with a sample of the CSV file you are using, so we could try to reproduce the issue on our end.

You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

Could you also share a copy of your site’s System Status Report with us?
You’ll find it at the top of the page under WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Download for support (after you scroll down a bit). Once you have the System Status Report file, please attach it to your reply.

Once we have more information, we’ll be able to assist you further.

    Thanks a lot!

Hi @albarin Thanks for getting back to me.

The following is the Dropbox link for the folder containing the CSV file and System Report. I have also included a screenshot of the additional items created on the site (and the exported CSV). I deleted these items manually, so I only have the screenshots showing the duplicate items.

As I had stated initially, I tried to test several different CSV files with different styles and had the same result every time (see screenshot).

    Hi @hankplayer

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that imported products via CSV are being duplicated on your site, correct?

As a first step, can you please confirm if you are using the built-in Product CSV Importer and Exporter here?

If so, I’ve imported the CSV file on my personal site, however, I am unable to reproduce the duplicate products as you can see below:

It looks like a third-party plugin or your theme might be causing the conflict here.

For us to investigate this further, can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce plugin is enabled, try to import the CSV file once again and see if this works?

If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

If this did not resolve the issue, please provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

Or, if you’d like someone else to do this work for you, our trusted partner, Codeable, has an offering where they will run this test for $150 USD. If there is time left, they will also fix the problems they found.

Let us know how it goes!
