So I’ve got this plugin activated on my site.

We’ve had a request from a client to remove the duplicate fields which are displayed when adding a new user in the Admin area.

The Email, First Name, Surname fields are all duplicated. This is frustrating the client as they have to fill in duplicate meta into users in order to save them.

Oddly enough, if i go into my “Manage Fields” table, none of the duplicated fields are checked to display. Yet they still do?

Unfortunately, I’m not able to reproduce this issue. Do you have additional plugins installed that add user meta fields?

No other plugins are used no the site which add user meta. I’ve also had a quick browse through the code and no filters or anything is used.

WP-Members is the only plugin on the site to mess with user meta.

I would send through a screenshot but it seems I can’t do that.

I had this issue and Chad told me to check the plugin that is now known as “Import and export users and customers”. It has a tab in Settings for Extra Profile Fields to be displayed or not.

When viewing the user profile, the plugin excludes default WP fields since they are already part of the WP screen. If the duplicated fields are in a separate group of fields, then it is likely another plugin. In order to determine this, you need to deactivate all other plugins and review the user profile edit. If the duplicate fields are gone, then bring back the other plugins one-by-one until you isolate which one it is.

(The reverse of this is also possible if you have an idea of which plugins are more or less likely to be involved. Deactivate one by one starting with what might be the most likely possibilities.)

It’s important to verify this to rule out the possibility of another plugin being the issue. It’s not something I’m reproducing, and every similar support instance comes back to another plugin, so if you truly believe that it’s not another plugin involved, you need to confirm that through verification.
