• Hi,

Just noticed that most pages on my website has a duplicate URL created with a random number added to the end.
Ex: example.com/category/post/date now has a duplicate url like example.com/category/post/date/3010101919

I am currently using canonical URLs to curb the issue but Google Webmaster Tools keep reporting “Duplicate URLs”.

    – What are the possible ways this is created?
    – Is there a mass rewrite option I can use (like an htaccess rewrite rule or a Robots.txt exclusion rule) to deal such duplicates?

I am using WP Super Cache and Amazon Cloudfront CDN Sync tool for the images – which is the only “sophisticated” plugin running right now.

  • I would suggest temporarily disabling all your plugins, clearing your browser and server caches, and seeing if the issue goes away. If so, you can attribute it a plugin.

You need to be cautious of such approaches. They may make everything look okay in the end, but they don’t deal with the underlying issue.

Hello Kay this not is a problem with your plugins or themes, is a problem with wordpress core read this my friend.
