Duplicate Sub-Categories

Hi,
I recently launched a cycling blog and want to categorize the posts into Location sub-categories that apply to both parent categories.
I have 2 main parent categories ‘Mountain Biking’ and ‘Road Cycling’.
So the sub-categories would be as follows:Mountain Biking
– Peak District
– North WalesRoad Cycling
– Peak District
– North WalesHowever, WordPress doesn’t allow 2 sub-categories to have the same slug. So what’s the best way to approach this?. Is my only option to rename the slugs /mountain-biking/peak-district-mtb and /road-cycling/peak-district-road?.
Also, I need to consider SEO and how these categories will be indexed by search engines.
Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestions, I was really hoping to do this without resorting to using a plugin. I wonder what most people do in this situation, I presume they must just make the slugs slightly different. Or maybe they use some kind of filtering plugin like this: https://demo.designsandcode.com/sfpro-movie-reviews/
Alternatively, if I created a Custom Post Type for Mountain Biking and one for Road Cycling would that work?.
