Duplicate SKUs

Hello.

Did I understand correctly, the generator makes the SKU the same for all products? Very strange, it can’t be. Could you take a screenshot of the settings and the results you get when generating? If there is an error, we will fix it.

No, there were 2k products without SKUs and using “Bulk generate SKU for all products” I got around 30 products having duplicated SKU number twice.

This may be due to the fact that it is impractical to add validation of existing SKUs to the generator during generation. In this case, the generator will take a very long time, so there is a feature to add identifiers that exclude duplicates. Imagine you have 10,000 products in your store and they are all checked for duplicates during generation – this is a very long wait time during generation.

You can also specify more characters during generation, then the probability of duplicates will decrease.

In my opinion It would be good to have an option to handle duplicates (I mean additional setting) even if it takes more time to generate SKUs.

Therefore me provided a function that excludes duplicates – a function to add product IDs. Checking for existence is unprofitable to do, because it will be awfully long if there are 10k products or 20k or 50k. I’ll give it some more thought.
