duplicate product slugs for variations

    We need to add products. Most of our products are variable products that are basically duplicates of existing products. So we click on “duplicate”

    Once the product has been duplicated, we change the title. We Edit the Permalink. We go in to the Product data and change the SKU under Inventory. We change the Product Categories as necessary and change the Product Image, etc.

    We click on Update.

    Everything changes but the slugs for the variations. The slugs for the variations do not change but rather seem to copy.

    As an example, the duplicated product will now be
    1054-swat-swatter-large
    1041-house-swatter-mini-copy-150
    1041-house-swatter-mini-copy-300
    1041-house-swatter-mini-copy-500
    1041-house-swatter-mini-copy-1500

    When it should be
    1054-swat-swatter-large
    1054-swat-swatter-large-150
    1054-swat-swatter-large-300
    1054-swat-swatter-large-500
    1054-swat-swatter-large-1500

    What can we do to get the slugs to duplicate correctly?
