Same problem with me! Generating duplicate posts with Google news rss feed

If the feed has new content, then it posts the new content, If the feed doesnt has new content, then it posts the old post which was already published! Hope you will understand!

Note, my plugin doesn’t check for changes in the content (such as updates to the content)..it only checks the title and permalink.

I have started to have this issue too. It fetches some posts dozens of times. I have manually checked, and all the posts that were fetched multiple times had exactly the same title and permalink, so it’s not due to them changing.
I am, however, importing a large number of feeds (almost 200) and I’ve croned the plugin to fetch about 7 feeds at a time every 2 minutes. Could it be because of that (because one updated isn’t really done before the next one starts, or something like that?) Would having rarer updates, say every 5 minutes solve this issue?

if you want, i can give you a file you can try…this one has a check that sees if a database connection was made (if not, you get a message)…this can happen on slow servers processing many feeds….if you want to try this, let me know.

I have modified the cron to leave 10 minutes between feed fetches, so I’ll leave it like this for a few days to see how things are going.

I had the same issue here. All my rss feeds are custom made (build by myself or i use feed43.com and do validate. The feeds did not change before/since the upgrade of Multi-importer). But then duplicate posts started to occur. I checked the url and title’s of the duplicates (as registered in the database), and they are all identical (!!) So in theory, this should not happen.

I have about 15 rss feeds. It worked fine until the upgrade.

Most posts are kept ‘pending’ (and never published, I had around 200 post marked as pending).

I just removed all the rss feeds, disabled the feed to post setting. Moved all pending posts to trash. Re-entered the rss feeds again and activated the feed-to-post setting.

For now it works. New rss feeds (I forced some to update) are recognised and existing (unmodified) feeds are ignored.

I will watch the behaviour of the plug-in the next few days, if there are any problems, i will post a message.
