Duplicate Pod does not copy Field Groups
-
Just got started with the use of Pod and they seem extremely useful.
However, I have spotted an anomaly when using the Duplicate option on a Pod I created. I liked the look of this option because it offered a good way to test a few different options for the data types I need to collect. The steps I took were as follows:
- I installed Pods 2.8
- I created a Pod called “Tests”
- I added a few fields to the initial default Group
- I tested that the Pod worked correctly – and it was fine
- In Manage Pods, I hovered over “Tests” and clicked the Duplicate link which appeared.
- I tested the new Tests2 Pod and it worked as expected in terms of allowing the creation of data.
- The issue became apparent when I decided to start adding fields to Tests2. When I opened Tests2 (the duplicate) in Pods Admin there were no fields showing just an empty group.
This was surprising because as noted earlier, The duplicate Pod worked ok in terms of collecting data.
I went ahead and added a field to the Test2 pod. That field showed up in the UI as expected but after I made that change, the fields created by the Duplicate action were no longer visible.A working Duplicate function would be useful but fortunately, is not critical for my short-term plans for use of Pods. However, having noticed this I thought it would be worth submitting this report.
