Duplicate form submissions

  • Hello!

    Hope you are well Jay! I have used the plugin for a couple of different sites now and on the whole its working great! Thank you ??

    One issue I am having is that we get 2 or 3 emails through that are from the same user when they complete the ‘contact us’ form/widget. After some testing I can see that when you click on the submit button it does send the email but the page doesn’t update so it appears to the end user that nothing has happened. If you click the submit button again it seems to work and go through to the ‘thank you’ page.

    Just wondered if you had any idea on why this might be happening? An example of this can be found on this page https://www.myvwgolf.co.uk/cars-for-sale/volkswagen-golf-1-2-tsi-105-s-3dr-hatchback/

    If you fill in the ‘contact dealer’ form and then hit ‘Send Now’ you will hopefully see that nothing happens, if you then click it again or a third time you will see the thank you message/next screen appear.

    If you do a test please use the name ‘test’ or you might get a call from someone trying to sell you a car ??

    Hi Shane,

    I filled out a test form and could not recreate the issue. I was wondering what browser you were using when you encountered the problem.

    On a side note, I love some of the changes you’ve made and wouldn’t certainly like to take a look at the code and incorporate parts of it.

    Well the duplicates are coming from real users, using all sorts of browsers, personally I’m on OSX Safari/Chrome… sometimes the issue doesn’t appear but 90% of the time it does. Its not the end of the world but we have built sites like the example for Polo and E Class and want to do other models. I really need to fix this issue before i make any more sites …otherwise its going to be pretty difficult for the admin team.

    I did think about incorporating another type of form plugin but then it wont tie up with the car the user has selected so that wont work either!

    As for the code, let me know what you wanna see and i’ll get it over to you! Its all your groundwork after all ??

    Hey Shane,

    I just wanted to update you real quick. I haven’t been able to recreate the issue yet, but I think it might be related to the lead routing code. I found some inefficiencies that can be cleaned up to speed the process. My thought is that the function determining the lead routing is intermittently timing out.

    I know this doesn’t solve your problem at the moment, but I did want you to know that I’m working on a potential solution.

    Little concerned though as I have made so many changes that if I update the plugin i will lose everything …or are there changes I can make once you have solved it without doing an update?
