Duplicate first paragraphs

    If you look at articles from https://thefinancegenie.com on Apple News (in The Finance Genie) you will see that the first paragraph is getting duplicated. This is happening with a number of our sites. Any ideas why this would be happening?

  • We are seeing the same issue on other sites as well, via the Apple News app. The issue is occurring on articles for the following channels:

    The Political Insider
    Caged Insider
    Fightline
    KayfabeNews
    MMA Frenzy
    Wrestle Newz

    Any insight as to why we might be seeing duplicate first paragraphs? It looks like the change in format went into effect sometime around the end of June (sometime between the 23rd and the 26th maybe) as articles published before then did not have the excerpt/summary at the top.

    @andyaffleck I see The Finance Genie got this sorted out in your two most recent posts. What was the fix you discovered?

    Deep in the plugin is a customization area where we had intro + article and the intro was the first paragraph. Kate (above) figured it out.

    @hmurphy – There’s a setting called “Component Order” in the theme within the plugin. “Intro” was an active element in the Component Order. I made “Intro” inactive which then took care of the duplicate opening paragraph issue.

    I am trying to get my sites into Apple News and am getting the same error…I went into the theme and made “Intro” inactive, but am still getting the duplicate paragraph…Apple also directed me to this forum. Any ideas? Does it just take time to update?

    Hey, I am still having the same issue. Anyone know of why it’s still happening, or can help me debug?
