We are using the Google calendar import, and are getting a lot of duplicated events listed. How can this be avoided?

This seems to be a problem with other calendar plugins, so I suppose it’s really the fault of the Google Calendar itself.

Looking into it further, I’ve noticed that the way people create the listings may be the cause. For example, if events are created as monthly repeating events, but are later changed to stop repeating, they are still included in the plugin’s updates of the Google Calendar. This, even though they no longer show on the Google Calendar itself.
