Duplicate Event button – blank page

can I know what do you mean by blank page? if it’s 404-page not found you need to edit it first since it’s in draft mode upon duplicating

No, it’s a blank page in the WordPress Admin panel — as in, I click the link to Duplicate, and end up with:

And this is a completely blank page – no form, nothing.

I then click back and refresh, and I can see a new event has been created in Draft mode which I can then click into and edit.

Does that make more sense or would it help if I made some screenshots?

yes, a screenshot can help too but this works for me when I click Edit on the draft/duplicated event?

Absolutely – when I click on Edit it works.

Presumably when I click duplicate it should take me directly to editing the newly duplicated event, rather than giving me a blank page?

Hiya,

The chances are that something is causing a 500 error in your site when this occurs. It’s probably a plugin or your theme.

There are two ways you could troubleshoot this:

1. Enable WP_DEBUG and duplicate an event – you should get an error message that you can paste here to provide more insight.
2. Disable all other plugins, revert to the default theme and duplicate an event. If it works, we know it’s a plugin/theme conflict and you can re-activate one-by-one to find the culprit.

I’m using the Twenty Eleven theme unmodified (as far as I know).

Here’s what WP_DEBUG says:

Fatal error: Class ‘EM_Tags’ not found in /[REDACTED_PATH]/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/events-manager/classes/em-event.php on line 780

I think that means that somethign must have gone wrong when downloading/installing our plugin, because that class should exist. Do you get any other Warning error notifications on that page?

I’d try Phil’s suggestion, but maybe you could try deleting and re-installing the EM plugin (if you don’t choose ‘uninstall’ and confirm, no data will be deleted).

Also, do you have tags enabled in Events > Settings > General > Gen. Options > Enable tags?

I have Tags turned off.

I’ve not tried that. Do you really think it’ll help?

As I mentioned, it’s a factory install of both plugin and WordPress created on Saturday. The original installation was made from within WordPress using the plugin finder. If I have to reinstall your plugin on day two of use it doesn’t exactly bode well…

Because the class can’t be found, it’s very likely one of the files is missing or wasn’t completely downloaded. It’s rare but it does happen.

I actually had a similar problem with a new WordPress install a few days ago. A quick re-install fixed it.

I’m also getting an error when I try to duplicate events.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function em_tags() in […]/wp-content/plugins/events-manager/classes/em-event.php on line 780

Deleting and reinstalling made no difference and a manual download compared with the wp installed version did now show any missing or incomplete files.

I have version 5.4.4 on another site which is not producing the same error, so on a whim I replaced the 5.5.1 em-event.php file with the 5.4.4 version and the error disappeared.

Who knows how many other errors I might end up generating due to my file switch, but it’s late and it’s not a live site, so I thought I’d experiment a little.

this was actually a bug when tags are disabled in your EM settings page. this is fixed in the latest dev version though.
