Duplicate Blog Content to New Domain & Template
-
I know there are a lot of posts on this subject inside this forum and out, but my situation is a bit unique (I think). And if you don’t like longish reads maybe skip to the last paragraph.
I have two hosting accounts on Godaddy. I have built a wordpress blog over the past few months that I really like (https://f8photo.ca) but suddenly I am discovering that it is not as unique as I would like (the free template, but also so many other photographers using the f8 moniker for businesses and websites- mine is surely to invite a cease and desist letter at some point).
My blog has adsense ads, some sidebar links and banners, a nextgen photo gallery of about 131 images, about 80 posts with an image for each one, and very little in the way of comments. I’m not so worried about search engine rankings at this point because the blog is young with no real commerce element, but SEO is important to me on a go forward basis.
So what I’m thinking of doing is duplicating the content to another domain I already own that is more original, with a more customized wordpress theme, just to see if I can get it to where I am comfortable in ditching the old one altogether.
I am a wordpress/website semi-noob, but I am a quick study and quite comfortable with the technical stuff as long as I have good instructions to follow. Am I better off to just export/import content once the new site is up? Or am I better off following these instructions (if they are nondestructive to the old site so I can have both up and running to compare and tweak)
