If I have a product that has attributes, say,

    background paint color:
    text paint color:

And both of these are exactly the same variations/paint colors, do I need to create two separate attributes with the same list of choices or can I use just one somehow? If I have to use two, is there a way to duplicate attributes?

What if I have 4 of the same attributes? This could get messy very quickly.

    Thanks!

    Hi @jglazer63,

I’m not sure I understand what you’re trying to accomplish here. If you set up those two attributes you have to also define terms and create a variation with those terms. I’m sending a few screenshots for better understanding:

    – Create the variation – https://snipboard.io/1eNLOR.jpg
    – How it’s showing in the front end – https://snipboard.io/5m3yzv.jpg

We also have a guide with more information on attributes if you’re interested:

    Thanks.

I know what attributes are and how to use them but I was pretty clear. I have 2-4 attributes that are **EXACTLY** the same and they will **ALWAYS** be the same. I take it I have to define these duplicates over and over to use them instead of using a single attribute/list multiple times right?

    Hi there,

If you are referring to the list of terms for different attributes (i.e. Background color: red, green, blue, etc, Text color: red, green, blue, etc), then yes you would need to create them for each attribute that you want to use them on. There is no built-in way to use one list of terms across different product attributes, and no way to duplicate them.

To speed things up, perhaps you could use the Product Importer. You could create a single product with all your different attributes, and copy the list of terms for each one. Then when you import that single product, it should create the attributes as well. We have info about the importer here:
